DESCRIPTION: EPW - Paul Ditisheim, Chaux-de-Fonds, chronograph with 30-minute register, helical hairspring, 53mm, heavy 18K gold original case with Grand Prix marking inside rear, Jurgensen-style lips, five-knuckle hinges, gold cuvette elaborately engraved "Exposition Universelle Paris 1900. Grand Prix. No. 23522. Paul Ditisheim Fabricant La Chaux-de-Fonds. 74 Prix De L'Etat Premier aux Concours Chronometriques de Kew Washington & Neuchatel," white enamel triple-sunk Roman numeral dial, outermost scale reading "Calcule Par 200 Metres" for kilometer per hour calculation based on 200 meter timing, 13 to 24 hour indications are above dial glaze having been overpainted onto dial surface around center, SW-pin-set, lever escapement with capped escape wheel, possibly 20J, helical hairspring, wolf's tooth winding, marked "Grand Prix Paris, 1900" to chronograph bridge, gilt mvt, s#23522 within case and on dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 76.5 dwt (118.9 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good chronograph function, virtually mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb overall gilt tone, chronograph bridge with small micro-fine scratch and few very small bits of haze; nearly flawless dial with few minuscule pinpoint surface nicks near edge near 3 and 6; fine sweep-seconds hand has been overpainted with black, other hands are nearly mint and blue; case shows very little wear, some dents to band; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; good glass crystal.
